Emotional Support Animal
An Emotional Support Animal (ESA) is a pet that provides comfort and support to individuals facing emotional or psychological challenges, such as anxiety, depression, or PTSD. Unlike service animals, ESAs do not undergo specific training to perform tasks for people with disabilities. Instead, their presence alone helps alleviate symptoms and provide emotional stability. Individuals often need a doctor's note to qualify for an ESA, which allows them certain housing and travel accommodations. However, they do not have the same legal access rights as service animals that assist people with physical disabilities.
