Emission Spectrum

An emission spectrum is a pattern of light emitted by atoms or molecules when they gain energy and then release it. When these particles are energized, they move to higher energy levels and, when they return to their normal state, they emit light at specific wavelengths. This emitted light creates a spectrum made up of bright lines, each representing a particular wavelength. Each element has a unique emission spectrum, much like a fingerprint, allowing scientists to identify substances and understand their properties based on the light they emit.
