EMDR therapy protocols
EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) therapy is a structured approach that helps individuals process and reduce distress from traumatic memories. The therapist guides you through recalling a specific memory while directing your eye movements or other bilaterally stimulating activities (like hand taps). This process encourages the brain to reprocess the memory, transforming it from distressing to less upsetting. EMDR typically involves several phases: history taking, preparation, assessment, desensitization, installation, body scan, and future planning. The goal is to resolve emotional distress and improve emotional resilience related to traumatic experiences.
