electric chair

An electric chair is a device used for executing condemned prisoners by applying a high-voltage electric current through their bodies. It consists of a wooden chair with metal restraints on the head, arms, and legs, connected to electrical conductors. When activated, the electric current passes through the person, causing rapid paralysis and cardiac arrest, leading to death. The electric chair was developed as an alternative to lethal injection and was historically used in some regions for capital punishment. It is now largely obsolete, with many jurisdictions phasing out its use in favor of other methods.
