El Castillo
El Castillo, also known as the Temple of Kukulcán, is a large pyramid located at the ancient Mayan city of Chichén Itzá in Mexico. This iconic structure stands about 24 meters tall and features a series of steps leading to a temple at the top. It was built around the 12th century and is dedicated to the feathered serpent deity Kukulcán. The pyramid is renowned for its sophisticated architecture and astronomical significance, particularly during the equinoxes when the setting sun casts a shadow that resembles a serpent slithering down the staircase. El Castillo is a UNESCO World Heritage site, symbolizing Mayan culture.
