
Edward Taylor
Edward Taylor (1642-1729) was an American poet and preacher, recognized as one of the major figures of early American literature. Born in England, he emigrated to the American colonies and became a minister in Massachusetts. Taylor's poetry often explored themes of faith, the divine, and the human experience, expressed through intricate metaphors and vivid imagery. His most notable work, "Preparatory Meditations," is a collection of spiritual poems reflecting his Puritan beliefs. Although largely unpublished during his lifetime, Taylor's writing gained recognition in the 20th century, solidifying his place in American literary history.
