DTP Vaccine
The DTP vaccine is a combination immunization that protects against three serious diseases: diphtheria, tetanus, and pertussis (whooping cough). Diphtheria is a bacterial infection affecting the throat, tetanus (lockjaw) is caused by a toxin from bacteria found in soil, and pertussis is a highly contagious respiratory disease. The vaccine works by introducing inactivated toxins or weakened bacteria, prompting the immune system to build protection without causing the diseases. It is typically given in childhood and is crucial for preventing outbreaks and serious health complications related to these illnesses. Regular boosters may be recommended throughout life.
