Dogen
Dogen was a Japanese Zen Buddhist monk and philosopher from the 13th century, founder of the Soto Zen school. He emphasized the importance of practicing meditation (zazen) as a way to directly experience enlightenment in everyday life. Dogen believed that enlightenment isn’t a distant goal but is found through mindful engagement with each moment. His writings explore the nature of existence, the interconnectedness of all things, and the importance of wholehearted practice. His teachings continue to influence Zen practice and highlight the value of attentive awareness and living fully in the present.
