Dislocations

A dislocation occurs when the bones in a joint are displaced from their normal position, often due to an injury or trauma. This can result in pain, swelling, and difficulty moving the affected area. Commonly dislocated joints include the shoulder, elbow, and fingers. Treatment generally involves repositioning the bones—a process known as reduction—and may require splinting or rehabilitation to restore function. While dislocations can cause immediate discomfort, prompt medical attention can help prevent long-term damage and complications.
