Disability Determination Services

Disability Determination Services (DDS) are state-level agencies that evaluate applications for Social Security disability benefits. When someone applies for these benefits, DDS reviews their medical records, employment history, and other relevant information to assess whether their condition meets specific criteria set by the Social Security Administration. The goal is to fairly determine if the person is unable to work due to a disability. If approved, the individual may receive financial assistance to support them during their inability to work. Each state has its own DDS, and the process can vary slightly from one state to another.
