digital eye strain

Digital eye strain refers to discomfort caused by prolonged use of screens such as computers, tablets, or smartphones. It occurs because staring at screens for extended periods reduces blinking and causes eye muscles to work harder, leading to symptoms like dryness, irritation, blurred vision, headaches, and neck discomfort. Factors such as screen glare, poor lighting, screen brightness, and viewing distance can worsen these symptoms. To reduce digital eye strain, it’s helpful to take regular breaks (following the 20-20-20 rule), adjust screen settings, ensure good lighting, and maintain proper ergonomics.
