Digambara

Digambara is one of the two main sects of Jainism, the other being Svetambara. The term "Digambara" means "sky-clad," referring to the practice of ascetic monks who renounce all clothing, symbolizing their complete detachment from material possessions. Digambaras believe that complete renunciation is essential for spiritual liberation and emphasize strict adherence to Jain principles. They also hold that women must be reborn as men to achieve liberation, a belief that contrasts with Svetambara views. The Digambara tradition has preserved its own set of texts and rituals, contributing to the rich diversity within Jainism.
