Demotic script

Demotic script is an ancient Egyptian writing system used primarily for everyday purposes like commerce, administration, and literature during the late Pharaonic period. It evolved from northern forms of hieratic, a cursive version of hieroglyphs, and was written with ink on papyrus. Demotic is characterized by its streamlined, simplified characters that allowed for quicker writing compared to more formal scripts.
