Ancient Egyptian hieroglyphs

Ancient Egyptian hieroglyphs are a system of writing that uses pictorial symbols to represent sounds, ideas, and objects. Developed around 3200 BCE, they were used for religious texts, monumental inscriptions, and administrative records. Hieroglyphs can be phonetic, representing individual sounds, or ideographic, representing whole concepts. The script was often carved on temple walls and tombs, conveying messages to the gods or honoring the dead. Hieroglyphs fell out of use after the Roman conquest, but their decipherment in the 19th century, notably through the Rosetta Stone, opened a window into Ancient Egyptian language and culture.
