Degree Inflation
Degree inflation refers to the trend where more jobs require advanced degrees than in the past, even when the tasks don't necessarily demand such qualifications. As a result, individuals often pursue higher education, leading to an oversupply of degree holders. This can devalue the significance of degrees, as employers may increasingly seek candidates with master's degrees for roles that previously required only bachelor's degrees. This trend can create barriers for those without advanced qualifications and shifts the focus from practical skills and experience to formal educational credentials.
