Dayak people

The Dayak people are indigenous groups primarily found in the central and eastern regions of the island of Borneo, which includes parts of Indonesia, Malaysia, and Brunei. Known for their rich cultural heritage, the Dayak traditionally practice animism, although many have adopted Christianity or Islam. They are renowned for their intricate craftsmanship, especially in weaving and wood carving, and their elaborate traditional ceremonies. Historically, the Dayak are known for their warrior culture and headhunting practices, though these are largely outdated. Today, they face challenges related to deforestation and modernization, which threaten their ancestral lands and ways of life.
