David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust
The David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust (DSWT) is a nonprofit organization based in Kenya, dedicated to the conservation and protection of wildlife, particularly elephants and rhinos. Founded in 1977 by Daphne Sheldrick in memory of her late husband, the trust focuses on rescuing orphaned animals, rehabilitating them, and eventually reintegrating them into the wild. It also works on habitat protection and community education to promote coexistence between humans and wildlife. DSWT is well-known for its successful elephant orphanage program, which has gained international support and raised awareness about the threats these animals face, including poaching and habitat loss.
