Dark Matter Halo

A dark matter halo is a vast, invisible region surrounding galaxies, composed primarily of dark matter, which does not emit or interact with light, making it undetectable directly. Although we can't see it, scientists infer its presence through gravitational effects on visible matter, like stars and gas clouds. These halos help explain how galaxies form, maintain their structure, and rotate. They are crucial in understanding the universe's composition, as dark matter constitutes about 27% of it, influencing the behavior of galaxies and the overall evolution of the cosmos.
