cytokinesis

Cytokinesis is the process where a cell divides its cytoplasm and organelles to form two separate cells after the genetic material has been divided during cell division. It typically occurs at the end of mitosis (or meiosis), ensuring each new cell has the necessary components to function properly. The process involves a contractile ring of proteins that tightens around the cell’s center, pinching it into two. This results in two genetically identical daughter cells, each with its own nucleus and cell structures, ready to carry out their functions independently.
