Cycle of Abuse

The Cycle of Abuse is a pattern often seen in abusive relationships, consisting of three main phases: tension-building, acute explosion, and honeymoon. Initially, tension builds, where the abuser may display anger or hostility. This escalates to an acute explosion, where verbal, physical, or emotional abuse occurs. After the abuse, there is often a honeymoon phase where the abuser may apologize, show remorse, and promise change, creating temporary calm. However, this cycle tends to repeat, with tension building again, leading to a destructive cycle that keeps the victim feeling trapped and confused about the relationship's dynamics.
