Crown Court

A Crown Court is a type of court in England and Wales that deals primarily with serious criminal cases, including those involving more severe offenses like robbery, murder, and sexual assault. It operates under the authority of judges and sometimes a jury, who listen to the evidence and decide on guilt or innocence. Unlike lower courts, which handle minor offenses, Crown Courts have the power to impose more significant penalties, including long prison sentences. Decisions made in Crown Courts can often be appealed to higher courts.
