Court of Cassation

The Court of Cassation is the highest judicial authority in some countries, including France and Italy. Its main role is to review decisions made by lower courts to ensure they were based on correct interpretations of the law. It does not re-examine facts or evidence, but focuses on legal principles. If a case is found to have been wrongly decided, the Court can quash the lower court's decision and send the case back for a new trial. Essentially, it serves to uphold the rule of law and maintain consistency in legal interpretations across the judiciary.
