Council of Islamic Ideology (CII)
The Council of Islamic Ideology (CII) is a constitutional body in Pakistan that advises the government on whether laws are in line with Islamic principles. Established in 1962, the CII's role includes reviewing existing laws and suggesting new ones to ensure they conform to Sharia (Islamic law). It consists of Islamic scholars and experts who interpret religious texts, guiding policymakers on issues like family law, women's rights, and public morality. While its recommendations are influential, they are not mandatory, allowing the government to make its own legislative decisions.
