Contention-Based Access

Contention-Based Access is a method used in networks where multiple devices compete to send data over a shared channel. Instead of following a strict schedule, devices listen for a clear signal and attempt to transmit when they detect no ongoing communication. If two or more devices try to send data simultaneously, a collision occurs, and each device waits a random amount of time before trying again. This approach is common in wireless networks, such as Wi-Fi, where managing access fairly and efficiently is crucial for maintaining a stable connection among many users.
