Constitutional Assembly of India

The Constituent Assembly of India was a body formed in 1946 to draft the Constitution of India, which serves as the country's fundamental law. Comprised of elected representatives, it worked to ensure that various elements of Indian society, including diverse cultures and religions, were represented. The Assembly debated and framed the Constitution, which was adopted on January 26, 1950, establishing India as a sovereign, democratic republic. It laid down the rights and responsibilities of citizens and set the framework for the government, aiming to balance individual rights with social justice and equality.
