Columbus's Voyages

Christopher Columbus undertook four voyages from 1492 to 1504, aiming to find a westward route to Asia. Sponsored by Spain, he sailed across the Atlantic, landing in the Bahamas, and later explored parts of Central and South America. His voyages opened the Americas to European exploration and colonization, profoundly impacting global trade and cultures. Although Columbus mistakenly believed he had reached Asia, his journeys marked the beginning of sustained contact between Europe and the Americas, ultimately leading to significant historical and cultural changes that shaped the modern world.
