Chromogranin A
Chromogranin A (CgA) is a protein found in the cells of the neuroendocrine system, which helps release hormones and regulate various body functions. It serves as a marker for certain medical conditions, particularly neuroendocrine tumors, where its levels can be elevated. CgA can be measured through a blood test to assist in diagnosing or monitoring these tumors. Although normally present in low amounts, high levels of Chromogranin A can indicate issues related to hormone production or other health concerns, but it is not exclusively a cancer marker.
