Christianity is a major world religion based on the teachings of Jesus Christ, who lived in the 1st century CE. Followers, known as Christians, believe Jesus is the Son of God and the savior of humanity. Central to Christianity are the concepts of love, forgiveness, and redemption. The Bible, divided into the Old Testament and New Testament, serves as the sacred text, outlining beliefs, moral guidelines, and the story of Jesus. There are various denominations, including Catholicism, Protestantism, and Orthodoxy, each with unique practices and interpretations while sharing core beliefs in the Trinity: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
