chloroplast

A chloroplast is a small, green structure found in plant cells and some algae. Its primary function is to carry out photosynthesis, a process that converts sunlight into chemical energy stored in sugars. Chloroplasts contain a pigment called chlorophyll, which gives plants their green color and helps absorb light. Inside, they have their own DNA and structures that facilitate capturing light, transforming it into energy, and producing oxygen as a byproduct. Essentially, chloroplasts act like tiny solar panels, enabling plants to produce their own food and sustain life on Earth.
