Chiroptera
Chiroptera is the scientific order that includes bats, which are the only flying mammals. Bats have wings formed from a thin membrane stretched across their elongated finger bones. They play vital ecological roles, such as pollinating plants and dispersing seeds, and they help control insect populations by consuming vast numbers of insects each night. Bats are incredibly diverse, with over 1,400 species worldwide, adapting to various environments from forests to deserts. They use echolocation to navigate and hunt for food in the dark, emitting high-frequency sounds that bounce off objects, helping them "see" their surroundings through sound.
