Bat Species

Bats are flying mammals belonging to the order Chiroptera, featuring flexible wings made of skin stretched over their elongated fingers. They are divided into two main groups: microbats, which are small and primarily insectivorous, and megabats, or fruit bats, which are larger and often eat fruit or nectar. Bats play crucial ecological roles, including pollination, seed dispersal, and pest control. They use echolocation to navigate and hunt in the dark, emitting high-frequency sounds and interpreting the echoes. With over 1,400 species, bats are the second most diverse group of mammals after rodents and are found in various habitats worldwide.
