China Banking Regulatory Commission

The China Banking Regulatory Commission (CBRC) was the governmental body responsible for overseeing and regulating banks and financial institutions in China. It was tasked with ensuring financial stability, protecting depositors, and fostering a healthy banking environment through the implementation of regulations and standards. The CBRC monitored risk management, capital adequacy, and compliance with laws. In 2018, its functions were merged into the China Banking and Insurance Regulatory Commission (CBIRC), which now oversees both banking and insurance sectors, continuing the mission of ensuring the safety and integrity of China's financial system.
