Chelsea Manning

Chelsea Manning is a former U.S. Army intelligence analyst who gained international attention in 2010 after leaking classified military and diplomatic documents to WikiLeaks. These leaks exposed sensitive information about U.S. military operations in Iraq and Afghanistan, as well as diplomatic communications, raising significant debates about transparency, government accountability, and national security. Manning was subsequently arrested and sentenced to 35 years in prison but had her sentence commuted by President Barack Obama in 2017 after serving nearly seven years. Manning is also known for her advocacy regarding LGBTQ+ rights and issues surrounding whistleblowing.
