Charles Edward Stuart
Charles Edward Stuart, also known as Bonnie Prince Charlie, was a Scottish prince born in 1720. He was a key figure in the attempt to restore the Stuart monarchy to Britain after they were replaced by the House of Hanover. In 1745, he led a rebellion called the Jacobite Rising, aiming to reclaim the throne for his family. Despite initial successes, the uprising was eventually defeated at the Battle of Culloden in 1746. Charles became a symbol of Scottish Highland pride and the Jacobite cause, but his efforts ultimately failed to restore the Stuarts to power.
