Cemented Hip Prosthesis
A cemented hip prosthesis is an artificial hip joint that is secured in place using a special type of bone cement. This prosthesis is used to replace a damaged or worn hip joint, often due to arthritis or injury. During the surgery, the damaged joint is removed, and the prosthesis is inserted into the hip socket and femur (thigh bone). The cement acts as a bonding agent, holding the prosthesis firmly in place, allowing for improved mobility and reduced pain. Cemented prostheses are especially suitable for older patients who may not have strong enough bones to support a non-cemented implant.
