cell types

Cells are the basic building blocks of all living organisms. There are two main types: prokaryotic and eukaryotic. Prokaryotic cells, like bacteria, are simple and lack a nucleus. Eukaryotic cells, found in plants, animals, fungi, and protists, are more complex and contain a nucleus that houses genetic material. Eukaryotic cells also have specialized structures, called organelles, that perform specific functions, similar to how organs work in a body. This organization allows eukaryotic cells to carry out more diverse and complex tasks than prokaryotic cells. Together, these cell types form the foundation of life on Earth.
