Caspian Sea
The Caspian Sea is the world's largest enclosed inland body of water, located between Europe and Asia, bordered by five countries: Russia, Iran, Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan, and Azerbaijan. Despite its name, it is a sea, not a lake, with no natural outflow to the ocean. It contains significant reserves of oil and gas and supports diverse ecosystems, including many fish species like sturgeon. Its unique legal status and international boundaries have led to complex disputes among neighboring countries over resources and borders. The Caspian Sea plays a vital role in regional energy, ecology, and geopolitics.
