Carolyn Bryant (Donham)
Carolyn Bryant, also known as Carolyn Bryant Donham, is a central figure in the Emmett Till case, which became a significant event in the Civil Rights Movement in the United States. In 1955, she accused 14-year-old African American Till of harassing her at a grocery store in Mississippi. Following the accusation, Till was abducted, tortured, and murdered by two white men, who were later acquitted by an all-white jury. Bryant's testimony and the subsequent outrage surrounding the case highlighted deep-seated racial injustices and sparked greater awareness of civil rights issues in America.
