Carmelites
Carmelites are members of a religious order in the Catholic Church, formally known as the Order of the Brothers of the Blessed Virgin Mary of Mount Carmel. Founded in the 12th century on Mount Carmel in Israel, they emphasize contemplative prayer, deep spirituality, and a commitment to a life of service. Carmelites live in communities or as hermits and follow a way of life rooted in prayer, silence, and reflection. The order is known for its dedication to the Virgin Mary and has produced notable saints, such as St. Teresa of Avila and St. John of the Cross, who contributed significantly to Christian spirituality.
