Cardiac PET scan
A cardiac PET scan, or positron emission tomography scan, is a medical imaging test used to assess heart function and blood flow. During the procedure, a small amount of radioactive material is injected into a vein, which helps highlight areas of the heart. As the PET scanner captures images, it shows how well the heart is working, including its ability to pump blood and any potential damage from conditions like coronary artery disease. This non-invasive test helps doctors diagnose heart issues and plan appropriate treatments. It typically lasts about 30 minutes to an hour and is painless.
