Card Not Present (CNP) Transactions

Card Not Present (CNP) transactions occur when a customer makes a purchase online or over the phone without physically presenting their credit or debit card. Instead, customers provide their card details—such as the card number, expiration date, and security code—through a website or during a call. CNP transactions are convenient but carry higher risks for fraud, as it’s harder to verify the cardholder's identity without the physical card. To enhance security, businesses often use additional verification methods, like one-time passwords or CVV, to protect against unauthorized use.
