Carbonate Petrophysics

Carbonate petrophysics is the study of carbonate rocks, primarily limestone and dolomite, to understand their properties and behavior, especially in relation to oil and gas reservoirs. These rocks form from the accumulation of organic materials and minerals in marine environments. Through various techniques, scientists analyze characteristics such as porosity (the space within the rock that can hold fluids) and permeability (how easily fluids can flow through it). Understanding these properties helps geologists and engineers find and extract natural resources efficiently, ultimately aiding in energy production and informing environmental assessments.
