Canakkale Agreement

The Çanakkale Agreement, signed in 1920 between Turkey and the Allied Powers, aimed to establish peace following World War I and address territorial disputes. It marked the focus on the Dardanelles Strait, a strategic waterway linking the Aegean Sea to the Sea of Marmara. The agreement sought to regulate navigation and ensure security in the region, following the conflict's toll. However, it was overshadowed by ongoing tensions and the rise of Turkish nationalism, eventually leading to further negotiations and the establishment of the Republic of Turkey in 1923, which fundamentally altered regional dynamics.
