Canadian political system
Canada has a parliamentary democracy and a constitutional monarchy. The country is divided into provinces and territories, each with its own government. The federal government is led by the Prime Minister, who is the head of government, and is elected by the House of Commons. The Senate, appointed by the Prime Minister, reviews legislation. The monarch, represented by the Governor General, performs ceremonial roles. Canadians vote for Members of Parliament (MPs) and provincial representatives in regular elections. Political parties play a crucial role, with major parties including the Liberal Party, Conservative Party, and New Democratic Party (NDP).
