Cambodia National Rescue Party
The Cambodia National Rescue Party (CNRP) is a major political opposition party in Cambodia, formed in 2012 by merging two earlier parties. It seeks democratic reform, human rights protections, and an end to corruption in the country, which is dominated by the ruling Cambodian People's Party. The CNRP has faced significant challenges, including government crackdowns, its leadership being imprisoned or exiled, and the party itself was dissolved by the government in 2017. Despite these obstacles, the CNRP remains central to discussions about democracy and governance in Cambodia.
