Caffeine is a stimulant found in coffee, tea, and energy drinks that can improve alertness and concentration. However, it can also disrupt sleep patterns if consumed too close to bedtime. Caffeine blocks adenosine, a brain chemical that promotes sleep, making it harder to fall asleep and reducing overall sleep quality. People with sleep disorders, such as insomnia or sleep apnea, may be more sensitive to caffeine's effects, exacerbating their difficulties.
