Breast MRI protocols

Breast MRI (Magnetic Resonance Imaging) is a medical imaging technique used to create detailed pictures of breast tissue. The protocol typically involves using a strong magnetic field and radio waves, with the patient lying face down on a special table. Contrast dye may be injected to enhance images. The process usually lasts 30 to 60 minutes and helps identify abnormalities, evaluate breast cancer treatment, and assess the extent of disease. It’s particularly useful for women with dense breast tissue or a high risk of breast cancer, providing a clearer view than mammograms alone.
