The Bosphorus Strait is a narrow, natural waterway that connects the Black Sea to the Sea of Marmara in Turkey. It acts as a vital geographic boundary between the European and Asian sides of Istanbul, making it a strategic and cultural crossroads. The strait is about 31 kilometers (19 miles) long and varies in width from 700 meters to 3.7 kilometers (0.4 to 2.3 miles). It is one of the world's busiest maritime passages, facilitating international trade and transportation.
