Bonhoeffer (Dietrich Bonhoeffer)
Dietrich Bonhoeffer was a German theologian and anti-Nazi dissident during World War II. Known for his profound Christian ethics, he emphasized the importance of acting upon one’s beliefs, even in the face of danger. Bonhoeffer opposed Hitler's regime, becoming involved in resistance efforts and ultimately confronting the moral dilemmas of faith in a time of brutality. He was arrested in 1943 and executed in 1945. His writings, especially "The Cost of Discipleship," continue to influence Christian thought, highlighting themes of sacrifice, community, and the responsibility of individuals to stand against injustice.
