Birmingham Pals

Birmingham Pals refers to the groups of volunteer soldiers from Birmingham, England, who enlisted together during World War I, particularly in 1914. These battalions, known as "Pals" battalions, were formed to encourage camaraderie among friends and communities. They served in the British Army as part of a wider initiative allowing men to fight alongside their friends. The most notable was the 14th (Service) Battalion of the Worcestershire Regiment. The Pals concept aimed to boost morale and maintain social bonds, but unfortunately, it also led to significant losses when these units faced combat, impacting entire communities.
